Performance by Marcus Bastos

How does radio, TV and MIDI transmits their signals? What does their modes of transmission teaches us about broadcast and network cultures? Are their signals related or different? Do this similarities or differences explain modes of transmission in their epochs? Or show more similarities than differences between analog and digital modes of transmission?

The piece explores the relationship of analog and digital signals, aiming to depict a lacunar archeology of transmission. The immediacy of radio transmission transduced into sound. The latency of TV broadcast shattered through spatial montage. The micro temporalities of the digital explored as fast swapping of present and its very immediate pasts and presents. It will be presented in the form a lecture-performance, as a way to research formats of knowledge production that bridge verbal and non-verbal, artist and theoretical.

Audiovisual Installation by Natalia Aly

We live in a world of random and ephemeral information that decontextualizes time. We live in a time of forgetfulness. This audiovisual piece is about the common memory, forgotten in time. “Berlin. Gestern und Heute” proposes, through familiar images of everyday life, to observe the unobserved. During seven days the project was recorded on the streets, seeking to compare Berlin of “yesterday” (past) and today (present). It is a “ready-made” cinematic project that mixes realities from different times of the same city. A true metamorphosis of time and space and an archeology of urban memory.
