AUDIOVISUAL UNREST is a website that documents a variety of developments in Brazilian media art during the Covid-19 pandemic. The project is going to be presented by its director Patrícia Moran together with Katia Guedes, one of the contributing artists, and media art scholar and curator Cornelia Lund.



Speakers


DR. PATRICIA MORAN is a scholar at Universidade de São Paulo/USP and a director of documentaries and fiction films. The results of her academic research are books as Audiovisual ao vivo. Tendências e Conceitos, with Marcus Bastos (2020), Histórias e Técnicas de Cinemas (2023) and essays on experimental contemporary art and media art published in academic journals. Her field of research focuses on audiovisual performance, from theater to arena. She has received grants from FAPESP and CNPq and coordinates the website IAP. She is currently developing a fiction feature film and a documentary. Her current stay at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin is supported by CAPES.


KATIA GUEDES studied oboe, singing and composition at Universidade de São Paulo/USP. Postgraduate studies at HfM Hanns Eisler with Inge Uibel and master studies in musicology and theater studies at TU and FU in Berlin. International concerts at several music festivals including Semperoper Dresden, Biennale Salzburg, Münchener Biennale, MaerzMusik, Ultraschall and Teatro Real Madrid with the ensembles Mosaik, KNM Berlin, Modern Art Sextett, nieuw ensemble amsterdam, Kammerorchester Basel, Klangforum-Wien, Berliner Symphoniker, Jenaer Philharmonie. She has performed as a composer at Diagonale-Bielefeld, Pyramidale, BKA-Berlin, Lisbon, Intersonanzen, Festival Avignon and at BAM Berlin 2022 with her first music theater piece.


DR. CORNELIA LUND is a Berlin-based art and media scholar and curator. She has worked for years in research and teaching, mainly on documentary and audiovisual artistic practices, design theory, and de- and postcolonial theories (including at HU Berlin, University of the Arts Bremen, HAW Hamburg, PUC São Paulo). Since 2004 she has been co-director of fluctuating images, an independent and non-commercial platform for media art and design. 2012–2018 she has been a research fellow in a DFG project on German documentary cinema (University of Hamburg), in 2019 she co-curated the exhibition and research project Connecting Afro Futures. Fashion x Hair x Design (Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin); currently she is a Research Fellow at the University of the Arts Bremen. Her publications include Design der Zukunft (2014), The Audiovisual Breakthrough (2015), as well as the online platforms Post-digital Culture (2016–), Lund Audiovisual Writings (2017), and decolonial.etc.br as the result of a workshop at PUC SP (2021–).
